Agave mapisaga var. mapisage

Agave mapisaga, variety mapisage (not variety Lisa), can be grown in CA zones 9-11 according to USDA. They are the most prolific producers of pups of all of the agave varieties we have grown, starting in their first year! This sub-variety doesn’t appear to be growing as large as Mapisaga Lisas we have seen before, but they appear to be a bit hardier than the Webers. Our guess is we will keep them on 11-12 foot centers and 4 ft. down the row, like weber azul.
