Agave potatorum tobala

Agave potatorum (Tobala) is a small agave native to MX. It’s reported to take 12-15 years, if not more, to reach full maturity. They do NOT produce clones and are typically reproduced by seed. We offer a hybrid known as Chino which is grown in the low lands and prefers direct sunlight. When mature, the pinas (center of plant) will be about the size of a basketball and can weigh as much as 50-60lbs. Given their smaller size, we’re considering planting some on 40 inch beds, 2-3 ft. down the row for ~ 5,000/ac.
