Agave murpheyi

Agave Murpheyi is slow growing taking up to 10-12 years to fully mature. At maturity, plants can be as large as 2-3ft tall. Ours started producing clones in the 2-3rd year. When it flowers, the seeds produced are not viable for replanting but the bulbils (small rosettes on the flowering stock) are. The plant has shown no signs of stress from a lack of water or from frost. Consequently, we consider them to be more drought & frost tolerant. They are native to central Arizona and northern Sonora MX. We are thinking about planting them on 80 inch beds, 2-2.5 feet down the row for a total of ~ 2,900 plants per acre. We’re still searching for info regarding pina weight at havest and surgar content.
